Every Life Does Matter - Suicide Prevention Action Plan for Scotland

45202_1

Following our last piece on 'What if you're not fine, in fact, you are thinking of Suicide' we are delighted to see the new Suicide Prevention Action Plan for Scotland

The vision is supported by the key strategic aims of a Scotland where:

People at risk of suicide feel able to ask for help, and have access to skilled staff and well-coordinated support;

People affected by suicide are not alone;

Suicide is no longer stigmatised;

Better support is provided to those bereaved by suicide; and

Through learning and improvement, we minimise the risk of suicide by delivering better services and building stronger, more connected communities

The plan has 10 Actions

It is excellent to have backing from the Scottish Government to help reduce the incidence of Suicide in Scotland.

Let us all look at what we can do to make our communities, places of education, workplaces, clubs we are members of, become suicide safer.

We all need to learn how to share when things are not fine and maybe reduce the risk of thinking about suicide by being more comfortable about talking about suicide.

Reducing the incidence of suicide is all our business.

There are lots of great initiatives in Scotland and elsewhere for us to adopt, adapt and work together on e.g. https://www.stopsuicidepledge.org/

We can make a difference when we work together. Here is a link to some useful numbers if you or a loved one is affected by suicide.

Every life matters, including our own, let us work together to be there for those who have lost someone to suicide and increase the opportunities which support someone to choose life, thank you for reading.
