''Self Management Week takes place every year to raise awareness of and showcase the huge benefits self-management can bring to people's lives".

This year the theme for Self Management Week 2018 is -

'Gaun Yersel'

Self-management is about people living with long-term conditions being in 'the driving seat'. It supports people to live their lives better, on their terms. Self-management is not a replacement for services, it does not mean managing alone.

It is a journey with the person at the centre, feeling able to take control of their lives and conditions in partnership with support and services.'' www.alliance-scotland.org.uk

As members of the Self-management Network, and during self-management week COPEScotland wanted to share a tool which can be used to offer ideas and tips on ways to manage stress. The tool involves slides which can be used yourself or with a group and some accompanying notes. This tool does not replace professional advice, its aim is to offer some ideas on ways you can manage stress which supports the other tips and hints on the COPE Scotland website which we shared during Mental Health Awareness week.

Living with a long-term condition can be very stressful for the individual and those who love and care about them.

Learning how to manage stress can make us all more able to self-manage some of the tensions which life can throw at us. While it may not solve all our problems, it can help us suffer less.
