The Jigsaw continues

Following the success of  "What's in Drumchapel for you and yours" information booklet. We worked closely with The Yoker resource centre and partners in Yoker to co-design a further resource booklet for Yoker and the Dumbarton Rd Corridor. With partners, we are keen to update this later in 2019 20 and have one which covers the West of Glasgow, watch this space.

The Yoker Resource centre; to support ensuring people get copies of the booklet, are working with the school and pupils to share copies which can be taken home. During the booklet launch, we were delighted to see pupils from Bankhead Primary School attend.

The booklet launch was also a chance to hear about the Jigsaw seed funded projects and the work of the projects were amazing, including:

  • Community Links Practitioner young adults' group
  • 3D Drumchapel Nurture Workshops
  • DRC Youth Project's work with young people
  • Drumhub' s New relaxation room
  • Glasgow Wood Recycling taster sessions of what they offer and mental health awareness training
  • Theatre Nemo arts project
  • Yoker Community Campus and peer support groups
  • Yogability Yoga courses

The impact each of these projects had was amazing and will be shared in the final Jigsaw report. We have included our report of Jigsaw, "perception of a piece" in this blog.

There was a great turnout to the event including many agencies, groups, local people and local Councillors.

The energy in the room was really positive about how we keep the momentum going.

There was also thanks to many people without whom Jigsaw would not have happened and will not be able to grow and develop further.

There are too many people who have made this a success to mention everyone by name.

Some people worked behind the scenes too, but people know who they are and how much they are appreciated. Improving mental health and emotional wellbeing or 'Brain' Health as Dr Peter Cawston shared, is a big Jigsaw with many pieces. The magic happens when the pieces come together.
