COPE Scotland started the 'whit's happening' as a way initially of sharing information to the team, people using the service, local partners, and the community of what was going on as we moved into lockdown. It started as a wee word document on a couple of sheets of paper and has kind of well……………… keeps growing! Which is super as we are now getting requests to include new sections.

It's now a monthly magazine, regrettably, at the moment only an e-version due to the fact it is shared for free and the printing costs would be too high, however, there is a digital inclusion section in the mag which we keep adding to as we find, or, become aware of new resources. We know not everyone is online, however, in these times it's important we do what we can to support people be connected digitally as well as in all other ways.

The digital inclusion section starts on page 30 and also includes a really good feature by Carnegie Learning from lockdown 12 steps to eliminating digital exclusion

Other features in this edition include:

  • Updates on the Gambling harms work in Glasgow and beyond page 4
  • People at the centre engagement programme page15
  • Consultations and chances to share what you think page 15
  • Different minds one Scotland page 21
  • Families Outside page 40
  • Theatre Nemo page 67
  • Sight Scotland Veterans page 109
  • Recover Me page 11
  • Age friendly eco systems page 73
  • Tips for coorie page 70
  • A new section for Veterans page 107
  • A New section on redundancy page 95
  • A new section on autism page 20
  • Tips for a better night's sleep page 116
  • And new resources added throughout the magazine

We are living in strange times, but we are not alone. The sheer volume of services and resources in the magazine show that we are trying to find ways to work together to help. The magazine alone won't do it, there may be things missing (and if there are please let Hilda know as she puts a lot of effort into this every month to make it as helpful as possible email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by 17th November and will be included in issue 11) However, it's a wee thing and enough wee things working together make a big thing.

This issue has lots new things in it, so if finding out a wee bit more about whit's happening is of interest to you, then maybe find a wee half hour, put your feet up, have a cuppa and a wee read. If there is something you would like to see in future editions drop Hilda an email via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and she will see what she can do to help. While we cannot change issue 10, if you see any errors or omissions please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and she will amend it in issue 11.

Switching what we focus on and lighting the candle...
