Yoga is it for me?

Yoga

On international Yoga day, we thought we would share a wee flier we co-produced with a local yoga teacher Anne on why should I do Yoga? We asked people what they wanted to know, and Anne put together the wee informative tips sheet.

There are many types of Yoga so it is worth doing some research and finding out is it for you? There is chair yoga, laughter yoga, Hatha Yoga and more.

There are often local classes free or for a donation, so it needn't cost a lot of money. COPEScotland had planned to run some free chair yoga classes, but the numbers of people who registered were low, we think, maybe because the day and times didn't suit as over the holidays when the children are off school, so we have postponed them for now, but we will revisit this in the autumn and see if we can find another way to share this opportunity with people, as we know there was interest.

There are also many established classes on different days and times, why not find out what is going on near you? Yoga can offer many benefits including helping manage stress and promote mindfulness.

Speaking of Mindfulness, we have a FREE Mindfulness taster workshop, Friday 28th June 10.15-12.15 at the Community Hub in the Chest Heart and Stroke shop as part of our partnership working looking at how managing stress can be good for your heart supporting CHSS Health Defence Programme.

Learning to go more slowly, take time to really breathe and give ourselves space, is good for our well being, may just be that Yoga is one of the ways that work for you, you won't know, until you give it a go.

As ever if any doubts about any health conditions please consult your health care providers first.
