Community Led Initiative

Traditionally a community led initiative means local communities are supported to set up organisations which can either influence public policies and the practice of service providers or the community itself is supported to organise a range of community services, sometimes both of these can happen within the same service.

COPE recognises that it's only when people who have experience of an issue and people who have the training and skills to address issues get together in a partnership of mutual trust and respect that real change can happen.

We believe this needs to be taken one step further; that is co-production, where those who provide services and those who use services work together to design and deliver services.

COPE Scotland has been involved in a variety of work in this area.
