Growchapel Growing a Future together in Drumchapel

Growchapel Growing a Future together in Drumchapel

It has been COPE Scotland's privilege to work with partners and the community on the new community growing space Growchapel.

Growchapel aims to be a welcoming space where the local community can apply for a growing allotment plot for vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers.

Developed through partnership working and led by the community of Drumchapel, the site can be accessed by the local community and organisations, whether they are growing, socialising or using the site for some peace and quiet.

Everyone is welcome in the space, where diversity and creativity are encouraged.

Growchapel fits well with Glasgow's open space strategy.

For more information on the networks in Drumchapel to support the natural world, please visit our document section, where you can see a resource map of activities.

We plan to report on developments moving forward. Including the scented sitooterie, which we are delighted Enable Thomas Fortune Centre is taking over to develop and manage going forwards.

COPEScotland is not about building an empire, but an idea and Growchapel is an idea which we are honoured to be a part of the building.

We have included in this piece the co-designed gardening handbook created for Growchapel, but which others interested in growing may find helpful.

Sharing and caring about each other and the natural world, we can be the change we all want to see for everyone's future, especially for children and young people.

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children
